Synchronization
TheSynchronizationdialogisopenedbyclickingtheSynchronizationbuttononthe
Setupmenu.
Purpose
ThepurposeoftheSynchronizationdialogistosetuptheES70tooperatealone,orasa
masterorslaveinasynchronizedsystem.Synchronizationisrequiredinordertoavoid
interferenceiftheES70isusedsimultaneouslywithotherhydroacousticinstruments
withinthesamefrequencyrange.
Description
Whenevermorethanonehydroacoustic
systemisinstalledonavessel,interference
mayoccur.Toavoidthis,thesystems
mayeitherbeconnectedtoacommon
synchronizationsystem,oroneofthe
acousticsystemsmaybedenedasa
“master”,andcontrolthetransmissionon
theothersystem(s).
TheES70includesinterfaceforremote
transmitsynchronisation.Itcanbesetup
tooperateineitherMasterorSlavemodeinrelationtoanexternalsynchronizationor
anotherhydroacousticsystem.
Inphysics,interferenceisthephenomenoninwhichtwowavessuperposeeach
othertoformaresultantwaveofgreaterorloweramplitude.Interferenceusually
referstotheinteractionofwavesthatarecorrelatedorcoherentwitheachother,
eitherbecausetheycomefromthesamesourceorbecausetheyhavethesame
ornearlythesamefrequency.
