CommercialRS-232seriallinecablesareusedtoconnecttheseinputstotheMultibeam
OperatorStationcomputer.
Severalcomputersmaynotoffertherequiredamountofseriallines.Inordertoprovide
thenecessaryserialinterfaces,additionalseriallineadaptersmaybeaddedtothe
computer.Asanalternative,RS-232toUSBadapterscanbeused.Inordertoensure
thatthenecessarypowerisavailable,suchadaptersmust-wheneverpossible-beused
withdedicatedexternalpowersupplies.
TheMultibeamOperatorStationcomputermustalsofacilitateinterfaceforexternal
trigger.SincethetriggeronlyusestheCTSandDTSsignalsonaserialline(pins5,7
an8),itcanbeconnectedtoaserialportotherwiseusedwithanotherperipheraldevice.
